Dramaturgical Encounter is an open theatre concept that is meant to create an opportunity for more intimate and engaging public interaction through the convention of theatrics. A Theatre is often a foil for the representation of public life, and public space frequently is arranged as if for a theatrical performance. Both the theatre and urban spaces are places representation, assemblage and exchange between the actors and spectators, between the drama and the stage set. Theatre’s become places for intimate public interaction, a gathering point for the people to come together and present their stories, culture and experiences. The concept of communication between each individual stranger is fascinating because it can further strengthen and develop these intimate relationship.A space to create a form of dramaturgy, where were become characters representing ourselves as performers on the street, just like actors putting on performances for their own audiences. Further enhancing the intimate, playful and performative interaction between all strangers that dwells through and within the narrow alleyways of Fort lane and imperial lane. The design centre itself around the intersection point where Fort lane meets imperial lane. Building into and complimenting the current gesture such as the ramp and the skylights that were implemented by Fearon Hay Architects. The design focus is to get actor performers to work collaboratively with the audience performers to create a type of dramaturgical encounter.
