PASSAGE

The lighthouse stands still day and night, as an architectural figure of human presence. Navigating the paths and thresholds of present and future space. A meeting point of water and land ,where air transcends and fire illuminates. A rite passage of ascent and descent between earth and sky. Once we reach the top , we exist in the thresholds between earth and sky as day descents and night ascents . A projection of light illuminates our new path forward silently into the good night. Lighthouses have represented the journey of descent and ascent as the psyche reveals the drop to the unconscious, then the ascent of new consciousness and awareness. The lighthouse has been used to provide illumination and guidance when little else seems to light the way or offer protection.
